Tape Recovery

The loss of mission critical data can be disastrous for any company regardless of the size.  However with increased legislation in recent years it is imperative that readable copies of data are accessible.

Data loss from data storage media such as tape or hard disk can be caused by physical problems, problems with drive electronics, or by logical corruptions or damage to the data that has been recorded.  If you are unable to access data from tape, hard disk drive or other data storage media (e.g. DVD, USB pen drive, memory stick or other solid state device) then a data recovery service may well be the only answer.

If you are unable to restore critical data from a tape, or set of backup tapes, this could be the result of physical damage, logical corruption to the structure of the backup, or of other factors such as accidental overwrite. You may also not be able to restore data from a tape that has been affected during events such as fire or flooding.

Media flaws and physical damage

Media flaws and physical damage failure during the process of restoring data is often the result of physical damage to the media, or with the quality of the recording, this can result in a media flaw being reported.

It is important that care be taken once a reading problem has been reported as if this is the result of physical damage to the tape then further attempts at restoration could well exacerbate the problems resulting in a total loss of data.

XMA's tape data recovery works to secure the data from your tape or tapes to prevent further loss of data and then to locate and extract the files that you need.
